Delete your data
Effective June 22, 2026
You can delete your Words Abide account and the personal data associated with it at any time. This page explains how, what gets removed, and how long it takes.
How to delete your data
There are two ways:
- In the app. Open your account settings and choose to delete your account. This removes your account and its data.
- By email. Write to [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the subject "Delete my data". We will verify your request and complete the deletion.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we remove:
- your profile and account credentials;
- your messages and audio recordings;
- your recipients and recipient groups;
- your check-in history and Keepsakes;
- your device and push notification tokens;
- any data we obtained from a third-party sign-in you used (for example Google or Facebook).
Deleting your account also stops any future delivery of your messages.
How long it takes
We remove your data from active systems promptly, typically within 30 days of a verified request, and purge it from routine backups shortly after. We may retain a limited amount of information where we are required to for legal, accounting, or security reasons, and we may keep aggregated or anonymized data that no longer identifies you.
Confirmation
When your deletion is complete, we will confirm by email. If you have any questions about deleting your data, contact us at [email protected].
